Alleged site of gold mine in 16th - 17th century. A late 19th century source states that it is recorded in the reign of James V and again in 1683: 'There is a gold mine, very rich, in a husband toun, called Overhill, in the parish of Belhelvie ... three fathoms, beneath the kyln, that is at the head of the In-town'.
