More Details here

Alleged site of 16th century gold mines and 17th century silver mines. A 19th century source states that gold was found at 'Menzies' in the reign of James V and a silver mine recorded there in 1683. OS (1964) noted that there was no local knowledge of this mine but Minnes in Hill of Minnes (NJ 9473 2375) could be a corruption of Menzies. NJ92NE0023 refers to similar mines and the name 'Tilry'. A Tillery exists to the west of Minnes and there may be some confusion between the two.
