Details Maud Railway Station, opened in 1861 by the Formartine and Buchan Railway, becoming a junction in 1865. It was a four platform junction station. The main offices, in a single storey rubble building in the angle of the junction, survive as does an unusual single-storey wooden goods office. It closed to regular passenger traffic on 4 October 1965. William Dingwall Fordyce M. P., who served as a Liberal M. P. from 1866 - 1875 and was resident throughout his lifetime at Brucklay Castle (NJ95SW0010), was instrumental in the construction of the station.
