Cottage and outbuilding depicted on the OS 2nd edition map. In September 1930, T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), calling himself Aircraftsman Shaw, rented the cottage from the owners, Mr and Mrs Ross, and spent a holiday in Collieston along with two ex-service friends, Jock and Jimmy. The cottage only had three rooms at the time and Lawrence described it as 'the nearest hovel to the high-tide mark'.
