The Longside Parish War memorial stands beside the old church at Longside (NK04NW0004). It commemorates the dead of both World War I and II. The memorial was designed by Dr William Kelly, and is a stepped rectangular monument with angled corner, standing on a 3-stepped base also with angled corners, surmounted by a foliated cross. The base is surrounded by a low irregularly curved wall. There are also a number of war graves in the churchyard. On the west gable of the church of St John is another memorial plaque to World War I designed by William Davidson, architect, Edinburgh. It sits under a protective stone projection and is a rectangular marble slab with a classical border around it. It is divided into three panels. The centre one has a wreath over a crossed rifle and sabre, above which is a crown and an open book. The panels on either side each bear a regimental badge.
