Details The former fishing trawler TOM TIT (H35), which had been requisitioned by the Royal Navy as a minesweeper, was wrecked at Peterhead on the 26th December 1914. The lifeboat ALEXANDER TULLOCH was swamped in attempting to rescue the crew, and three of its crew drowned. On the 1st March 1915, Carnegie Hero Fund Awards were presented to Lt. Charles Currey R.N., Sub-Lt. John Wales, R.N.R., Sgt. John M'Currach 5th Battalion Gordon Highlanders, fishermen John Thain and James Imlach, and cooper Alexander Strachan, for the heroism they displayed in this incident.
