Period Notes

Period Notes A church of Auchterhouse is recorded in 1275, but there is a church definitely on this site built in 1426. This was demolished and rebuilt in 1630. This was then rebuilt in 1775 using the same stones. There is an Act of Parliament clock from circa 1797. A bell in inscribed 'Parish of Auchterhouse 1834'. A lean-to was added between 1860 and 1900. The interior was recast in 1881 and refurnished in 1910, at which time repair work was also carried out. There are memorial windows for the ministers who served between 1878 and 1912, and 1912 and 1942. There is also a World War II mural memorial. There are 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th century tombstones. It was listed on 11/06/1971.
