Details Former drill hall, now a masonic lodge, built in circa 1911 on the site of a church. St Mary's Episcopal Church was built in 1797. It is shown on the 1st and 2nd edition OS map as a rectangular church with an addition on the north elevation, and is named 'St Mary's Episcopal Chapel' on the 1st edition OS map. It was destroyed by fire, and replaced by a church built on a new site on the outskirts of Kirriemuir (NO35SE0103). A group of five Class II and III cross-slabs were found within the churchyard, and are now located within Kirriemuir Cemetery to the east (NO35SE0105). Part of the graveyard survives to the rear of the current hall. In 1914 the hall was the base for 'A' Company, 5th (Angus and Dundee) battalion, Black Watch. The building has a bulky two-storey front block with two forward projecting gabled wings flanking a central door, the large hall lies behind.
