Details When removing the foundations of an old cottage, Mr Fleming of Cantsmill, discovered a stone coffin containing human bones and a skull which disintegrated when exposed. In 1862, two stone cists were found 2m south of the cottage. One was 2.6m long and contained a skeleton. In 1863 the cist was still in situ although covered with a few inches of soil. Now there is no trace of cists on this well-cultivated land.
