A large square-plan walled garden built to the northeast of Noranside House (NO46SE0053), likely to have been built in the early 19th century as part of estate improvements. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a square-plan garden and on the 2nd edition OS map there is a sundial shown in the centre. Current maps no longer show the sundial, and depict the garden as a nursery. The walls are constructed from rubble and red sandstone, with tooled stone dressings and a cope. The principal entrance is at the centre of the east wall, with later brick rybats and early-21st century cast-iron gates. A standing building survey of the house and associated features, including the walled garden, was carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2015 ahead of proposed development. It recorded some evidence of repair and rebuilding of the walls, and some indication of external harling. The walled garden is an important ancillary component of the Noranside estate, helping to understand the arrangement and working of this small estate in the 19th century. It survives largely in its original form being relatively unaltered and retaining its high walls and square plan form.
