Farmhouse and farmstead, shown on the OS 1st edition map as a rectangular farmhouse with a south projection set in garden grounds, with a quadrangular steading complex to the southwest with a southern courtyard opening, further ranges to the west and east, with a mill dam and sluice to the southwest of the steading. By the OS 2nd edition map the farmhouse has an additional wing to the north and a bowed projection to the east. The main steading complex has been extended to the west to include the former projecting ranges and roofed over, the ranges to the east have been joined to form a long linear steading range, an east-west row of farm cottages are to the west of the main steading with a pump to the south and further outbuildings with enclosures, possibly kennels, are to the northwest and northeast of the main steading. The farm is located within the designed landscape of Kinnaird Castle (NO65NW0021).
The listed building covers the large farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. Four-window elevation, with a bowed central 2-window projection, a simple doorway and a rear wing. Rubble built with a piended roof.
The farmhouse no longer has the southern projection shown on the current OS map, the steading has been enlarged with agricultural additions, with further agricultural sheds and buildings to the west. The former farm cottages are known as Nos. 1 and 2 Burghill Cottages.
