House, built in 1856-9 by William Spence, architect, for William Fullerton Lindsay-Carnegie. After a fire in 1888, it was internally reconstructed by Sydney Mitchell and Wilson, architects. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as an irregular square-plan building, with a projecting central section to the west elevation. There is a rectangular building attached to the main house by a narrow L-plan building to the north, with a small square building to the east of it. There is a walled garden attached to the south-east elevation. On the 2nd edition OS map, the walled garden has been divided into two, and extended to the north. Current maps show the square building and some of the walls of the walled garden have been removed. Stones from an earlier house to the west (NO64NW0013) were re-used in the construction of this house.
