Site of a flax and hemp spinning and weaving works depicted on the historic maps. The OS Town Plan (1858) shows buildings to include spinning room, engine houses, warehouses, boiler house, spinning and preparing room, weaving room, hackling room and cooling pond. The spinning mill, built, circa 1845, was described by Hume as 'An unusually handsome 3-storey and attic, 18-bay, coursed rubble main block, with pediments over the 5th, 11th, and 17th bays and a pleasing 3-light window, with fanlight, in the engine bay at the west end. There are 1-and 2-storey ancillary buildings at the side and rear'.
