Details Medieval midden identified outside the west door of the abbey in 1963 when some 17th-century houses were demolished. To the rear of these buildings was a steep bank behind which was the wall of the abbey burial ground. The bank consisted of midden material, bones, stones, burnt debris and pottery of late medieval date. The feature remains unexcavated. Some medieval pottery sherds were found amongst the debris from the demolished houses. The bank has not been excavated.
