Farmhouse and farmstead, shown on the historic OS maps, within the designed landscape of Kinnaird Castle (NO65NW0021). On the OS 1st edition map, the rectangular farmhouse is shown with a projection to the north, wings to the east and west, a long linear range forming a northern return from the west wing and a small rectangular building to the east of the east wing. The house is set in garden grounds with a garden enclosure to the west. To the north is an open quadrangular steading, with a circular horse-mill attached to the northwest corner, a rectangular range protruding into the court from the east range and the remains of a rectangular range to the east. The OS 2nd edition maps shows significant changes to the farm layout, with the southeast entrance being closed of and planted with trees, the small rectangular building east of the farmhouse east wing no longer shown and the quadrangular steading has been replaced with trees, with the central court area remaining open. A large multi-bayed steading is shown to the west of the farmhouse, with five front ranges protruding southeastwards, one rear range protruding northwestwards with a northeast return, forming a rear U-plan to the steading.
The listed building covers the plain 2-storey classical farmhouse, built in the early 19th century, with later additions. It is harled with exposed margins and a slated roof. At the time of the listed building survey, the farmhouse was the factor's house.
There have been later alterations and additions to the farmhouse, buildings and steading.
