Road bridge, still in use, carrying the public road over the River North Esk. The bridge is one of Robert Stevenson's first bridges to be built, and was constructed between 1811 and 1814. It is a very handsome 4 span bridge, with segmental arches of 58ft span (17.67m). It is stone built, with massive dressed stone arch rings and coursed rubble spandrels and wing walls. It has fine channelled, rounded, ashlar pier-cutwaters, voussoirs alternately raised in hood-mould, and recessed oculi at the spandrels between the spans. Also known as the North Water Bridge. Crosses the boundary between Aberdeenshire and Angus Council areas (see NO66NE0021 in Angus HER).
