Road bridge, still in use, carrying the public road over the River North Esk, also known as the North Water Bridge. The bridge is one of Robert Stevenson's first bridges to be built, and was constructed between 1811 and 1814. It is a four span bridge, with segmental arches of 58 feet (18 metres) span. It is constructed from rough ashlar with fine ashlar dressings. There are dressed arch rings and rough ashlar spandrels and wing walls. It has fine channelled, rounded, ashlar pier-cutwaters, voussoirs alternately raised in hood-moulds, and recessed oculi at the spandrels between the spans. There are curved buttresses at the approaches. It crosses the boundary between Angus and Aberdeenshire Council areas (see NO66NE0012 in Aberdeenshire HER). There is an associated tollhouse on the south-east bank (NO66SE0145).
