Site of Battle between the Earls of Crawford and Huntly in 1452 AD when the Royal army under the Earl of Huntly defeated the Lindsays, kinsmen and followers of the Earl of Crawford, at Brechin. Campbell (1881) gives the date as the 18th May and says the site of the battle has since been named Huntly Hill. To the west are cottages called 'Old Huntlyhill' at NO 6190 6347 and a stone to the north is locally believed to mark the site of the battle.
