Originally built in 1897, but was unsafe and demolished in 1880, before being rebuilt in 1881. In the late 1970s work began to substitute steel for timber decking and to replace the old-style bridge rails. It was listed on 08/06/2004.

First viaduct by Sir Thomas Bouch. The second was built by Sir William Arrol to the design of W. R. Galbraith.
