A row of fourteen cottages built in the mid 19th century, now derelict, with a 4-stage lookout tower (NO75SW0011) off-centre to the left. The cottages are single-storey, rubble built with raised ashlar margins, and some timber lintels to the window embrasures. Some appear to have had porches. The tower has round-arched bi[partite windows to each face at different stages above ground, and oculus in the south elevation fourth stage. It has a crenellated wallhead parapet with billeted corbel course and red brick stacks to two corners. The cottages appear to be earlier than the lookout tower and may have been built to serve a saltpan on the shore nearby as well as the fishing trade.
