A 19th century tower on the remains of a cairn. A large Bronze Age cairn, originally circa 45m in diameter, which was surrounded by a ring of large blocks of freestone (possibly kerbstones) which is now covered by the stones of the cairn falling down and over them. A 9.14m high hollow tower (a folly) was erected on it by J Farquhar of Johnston in 1812. The tower is an Ordnance Survey trigonometrical survey intersected station (sighting point) depicted on historic OS maps.
