Mansion dated 1680. Shown on the OS 1st edition map, as L-plan, with a northeast round tower, set in garden grounds, with a walled garden to the east (NO76SW0173) and two rectangular buildings to the west. Little change is shown on the OS 2nd edition map, with a circular addition to the house's south elevation, some additions to the northwest rectangular building, a pump shown in the grounds to the north of the house and small outbuildings adjacent to the northwest of the house. On the current OS edition map, the rectangular buildings to the west are shown as Kinnaber Garden Cottages, with the southern one shown as Gardeners Cottage, the north one shown as a former garage. The listed building describes the house, as L-plan, 3-storey, with a 5-window east frontage, a moulded cill-course at the ground floor, an architraved central doorway, which is now enclosed in a lightly constructed porch addition, and a circular northeast angle tower. A bow-fronted west addition, probably early 18th century, containing a staircase and making the north frontage approximately symmetrical. The interior was largely remodelled circa 1790, with two tripartite windows added on the south, with re-entrant frontages.
Prior to 1790, the house is believed to have had a southeast tower, making the east elevation symmetrical.
