Details Cottage, still in residential use, built in the late 19th century and named Nursery Cottage on the OS 2nd edition map. It is single-storey and attic harled estate cottage first built during the 19th century and enlarged and remodelled in 1895 forming an L-plan building with later 20th century alterations and additions. The main northeast elevation has a recessed porch with a doorway dated 1895. To the left of the door is a square projecting window bay with a piended dormer window set into the pitch of the roof above. To the right is the gable end of the mid-19th century section, with projecting eaves and oriel window inset added in 1895. There is a small round-arch window to the southeast elevation. The cottage is harled and painted white. Later 20th century alterations and additions include a single-storey sunroom addition to the southeast, and a flat-roof brick extension and A-frame timber outshot to the southwest elevation. Windows to the main northeast elevation are four-pane timber sash and case with thin astragals. There is a mix of window types elsewhere in the property including uPVC windows to the southwest and northwest elevations. The roof is grey slate with coped granite stacks. Some decorative red-clay finials, ridge tiles and octagonal chimney cans survive. Some cast iron rainwater goods also remain. The interior, visited by HES in 2018, has been substantially altered. There is a timber staircase (probably added in 1895) with ball-capped newel posts and curved handrail. Part of the Durris House (NO79NE0019) estate (NO79NE0068).
