Parish church, dating from the late 18th century, associated graveyard and site of earlier churches. The earliest church at Dunnottar was said to be built in the 5th century AD on the present site of Dunnottar House gardens. The second was consecrated on Castle Rock in the 13th century AD but was burnt down by Wallace in 1297. A new church was built in the late 13th century AD on the present site of the church and was dedicated to St Bridget, consecrated in the late 14th century. The church was rebuilt in the late 16th century. In 1782 a new church was built on the site of the old church. It is oblong, gothic with belfry; extended in 1862 and remodelled to cruciform 1903. Marischal Aisle, a small private chapel of the Marischal family, is a small oblong gothic building. Of rubble and slate, it is dated 1582 and was restored 1913. George Keith, the 35th Earl, is buried in the vault below. A stone in the churchyard bears an inscription commemorating those who died while imprisoned in the dungeons of Dunnottar Castle for their adherence to the Covenant.
