Details Site of Chapel, well, den: the chapel is sited by Eeles where the present fruit gardens of Dunnottar House stand, but all other authors site it on or near Dunnottar Castle. St. Ninian's Well has been located at NO8799 8390 (see OS NO88SE016) not, as Eeles states, at the 'Minister's Well'. Pins were dropped in the well on May Day. St Ninian's Den is sited by the OS, Simpson and Jervise 'just to the west of Dunnottar Castle' and according to Watt, was the name of 'the den opposite Dunnottar House where Lady Kennedy's Bath (NO8633 8457) was subsequently constructed'.
