Details The steel motor vessel TAURUS, with a crew of 34 under Captain Carl I. Jensen, carrying a cargo of foodstuffs (including 6922 tons groundnuts, palm kernels and cocoa) from Freetown to Hull, was bombed by German aircraft on the morning of 6th June 1941. She was taken in tow by a convoy escort trawler towards Montrose, but two hours later was subjected to further air attack. It was eventually abandoned by the crew and sank 2.5 miles offshore.
