Details Possible field clearance cairns in dense bracken. Groups of tumuli are depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps north and south of Bogenjoss. They are on a south facing slope at c 175-200m above sea level. OS site visit 1961 recorded several cairns centred on NJ85281340, 4-5m in diameter and 0.2-0.4m high. The largest cairn is 8 x 6m in diameter and 0.5m high. All are thought to be field clearance cairns, probably formed when this particularly stony area was first ploughed in the 18th or 19th century. FC have also recorded a possible stone boundary dyke within the area at NJ85571348.
