Monument built in the mid-19th century by the then land owner Dr William Henderson to define the summit of his property. It comprises a solid, granite-built tower measuring about 3m in diameter at the base, with an external flight of steps leading from the bottom of the southeast side to a level platform 3.3m above the ground. The iron hand-railing of the steps continues around the edge of the platform, and a socket for a flag-pole is visible at its centre. A stone set into the E side of the monument, about 1m above ground level, bears two sets of the incised initials WD, one set larger than the other. Another stone, on the SW side, bears the initials HMK. The monument held a Ordnance Survey trig point on the 1867 Ordnance Survey map, 821.8 feet above sea level.
