Details Excavation in 1977 recorded evidence of Mesolithic activity in the form of about 40 pieces of flint, including a core, a notched flake, waste material and a barbed-and-tanged arrowhead of yellow-brown flint with curved edges and asymmetrical barbs. The arrowhead measures 19mm in length by 15mm in breadth across the barbs and 3mm in thickness. The flints were in a black layer sealed by 30cm of water-deposited sand, indications of waterlogging during the early medieval period, from the Denburn and the river Dee, with the gradual development of garden soil layers from the later medieval period onwards. The finds from this site are in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums.
