Details Former militia barracks, depicted on the OS 2nd edition map, also shown on the OS 1st edition map as a military depot. Designed by William Ramage in 1863, it contained a large drill court. Initially with open shelters as stables and sheds along its sides these were converted to barrack rooms. It was formerly home of the Gordon Highlanders. Only the east range remains, a two-storey block, in baronial style and crowstepped, symmetrical and rubble built. It has 3-storey L-plan end features with angle turrets. Now in use as a bus depot. Building recording was carried out by CFA in 200y ahead of redevelopment - see also NJ90NW1184.
