Details Site of a town house built circa 1540 for the Abbots of Deer, and which passed to the Earl Marischal after the reformation. Mary Queen of Scot's is said to have lodged here in 1562. The house is depicted on the 1661 Gordon Map. It was demolished in 1767 to allow construction of Marischal Street. The Early Marischal's hall seems to have been a quadrangular structure with an internal courtyard and high conical-roofed corner towers. A sundial originally at this town house is now at House of Schivas, Aberdeenshire (see Aberdeenshire HER NJ83NE0184).
