Details Site of an episcopal palace rebuilt circa 1459, the original having been destroyed in 1336. It was a quadrangular court with a tower at each corner, and had a covered passage to the Cathedral and a back close that contained a dovecote and offices. The orchard lay between the palace and the Chaplain's Chambers and remained at the end of the 19th century. The remains of the palace were removed in 1651 to provide material for fortification of Castlehill. In 1952 the site was occupied by nursery gardens. An assessment carried out in 2002 and 2005 recorded what was probably the remains of the old Aberdeen bishop's palace (see NJ90NW0915).
