Details Former Head Post Office designed by William Thomas Oldrieve assisted by James Cumming Wynnees, 1904-7, converted to flats in 1999-2001. In Scots Baronial style it is 3-storey with an attic, built of granite ashlar, harled to the rear. window openings are predominantly mullioned and transomed with roll-moulded and chamfered arrises and raked cills. The Crown Street elevation is asymmetrical, roughly 8-bay, with a 3-bay centre with crowstepped gable, an advanced entrance porch with iron gates, and an oriel window at the third floor. The Dee Street elevation comprises a 9-bay centre flanked by advanced irregular end bays. The asymmetrical elevations to Crown Street and Dee Street are linked by a 1999 4-storey 8-bay wing.
