Details Remains of a quarry which was opened in the late 18th century by Messrs Snell, Rennie and May. Depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The 1st edition shows a smithy on the then eastern edge of the quarry: by the time of the 2nd edition this was part of (or had been replaced by) the Adamant Paving Works (NJ90NW0790). RCAHMS site visit 2002 recorded that it has now been almost entirely filled in and landscaped for a golf course (Auchmill), although a few large outcrops are exposed and scarps of several possible spoil-tips are visible along the north side. The buildings associated with the quarry have been removed.
