Details Site of a World War II gun laying radar station which lay at the north end of Golf Road. Visible on RAF aerial photographs taken in March 1945, which show the octagonal pattern of the GL-mat and the centrally positioned radar ramp for the mobile unit. Two cable trenches are also visible. It is likely to have been used in the calculation for height and distance range-finding for the high angle guns and rockets of the heavy anti-aircraft battery (NJ90NE0246) and Z-battery to the southeast (at NJ95030770). The site was built after May 1942 as an RAF air photograph taken in May 1942 shows only two rows of anti-glider trenches at this location.
