Period Notes

Period Notes Earliest part of the existing mansion appears to date from c1770, it probably lies on or near the site of an earlier manor which belonged to the Ogilvy family in the 16thC. It was acquired by John Abercrombie c1650 & remained in the family until early 20thC; mansion now gutted and little survives except some later 18thC window shutters. Simpson incorporated 1770 classical house which in turn had incorporated 17thC work. Remains of former late 18thC walled garden with four recessed bee boles in S aspect wall. Bridge over burn to east is probably by A Simpson c1840. 16thC beehive doocot in the policies.
