Period Notes

Period Notes A class II Pictish stone (circa 7th - 8th century) was found in the graveyard. The earliset mention of the church is it being gifted to the Abbey of Arbroath in 1211-14. This church was probably replaced by a church built in 1642. Warden (1880-5) gives a date of 1648, which may just be a misprint given that 1642 is on a datestone. It was repaired in 1809, and the current church then replaced it in 1848. There are 17th, 18th and 19th century tombstones in the graveyard. The church and graveyard were listed on 11/06/1971.
