Period Notes

Period Notes There was a grange on the site belonging to Arbroath Abbey until 1322, when the Durham family took possession. The family then built a house on the site, possibly in 1610. This was replaced by the current house, either in 1829 (HES listing record) or 1879 (antiquarian reports). There are gatepiers that possibly reuse 17th century stonework. There were late-19th century and later additions.
