Period Notes

Period Notes The church may have Pictish origins, from circa 710, although this is debated. The oldest mention of an Aberlemno Church is 1230, and a church on the present site was dedicated in 1242. HES, CANMORE and scottishchurches.org.uk all give 1722 as the rebuild date, but 1799 is the date given by John Gifford in 2012. The bell was cast in 1728. There are 18th and 19th century gatepiers, and the church was remodelled in 1856 and extended in the 1980s. The church and graveyard were both listed on 11/0/1971.
