Period Notes

Period Notes There is a castle on the site by 1178, which was destroyed in 1297. The site was granted to David Lindsay, fifth early of Crawford, in 1488. It later became the property of the Earls of Montrose, and may have bee the birthplace of James Graham, first Marquis of Montrose, in 1612. The current building has a frontage of circa 1815, but incorporates earlier houses to the rear. It was listed on 11/06/1971.
