Period Notes Edward I stayed at Glenbervie on Thursday 12 July 1296; 14thC courtyard; Sir Alexander Auchinleck married the Melville heiress in 1468; William Douglas, 9th Earl of Angus died at Glenbervie 1 July 1591. Estate sold to Burnett of Leys in 1675; estate sold to William Nicolson of Mergie in 1721. 17thC wood panels; S and W wings 1854. South tower 1854 and restored to its original shape in 1965. Walled garden has early wooden greenhouses from 1850. Doocot 1736; sundial 1767. Listed 18/08/1972.
