Details Three small cairns on Bruach Hill depicted on the OS 1st edition map (1846), individually called Shepherd's Cairn. Along with four other cairns of the same name (NJ25SW0031, NJ25SW0032, NJ25SW0033 and NJ25SW0034) extending along the summit and ridgeline of Bracken Noits southeast to Bruach Hill, they may have formed boundary markers related to Rothes Estate. Only the southern two of the three cairns are depicted on the OS 2nd edition map (1888), with only the central one at the summit of Bruach Hill depicted on the current edition OS map and it is unknown if the others survive. The location of the northwestern cairn of this group of three cairns was just within the area of a walkover survey carried out by West Coast Archaeological Services in October 2020, covering an area of a proposed woodland planting and regeneration scheme (NJ25SW0049).
