Details The Aberchirder war memorial stands opposite the parish church (NJ65SW0084) between Main Street and the A92, and commemorates those from the parish who died in World Wars I and II. It is a tall rectangular obelisk of rough hewn granite with a panel near the top within which is the carving of a rampant lion within a shield. Below it is the inset flat surface containing the inscriptions and names above which is a cross, also inset. It stands on a tapering solid basal plinth with another inset panel containing a crossed sabre and spear. At the front, below this, is an additional triangular block which contains the inscriptions for World War II. At the top of the monument cut into part of the face and the back, but not the sides, is a pitched mock roof. Full transcription of memorial held in AAS Digital Archive.
