Details Silver chain found while digging 1 mile east of Parkhill Station in the mid 19th century. Dating from circa 8th century AD, it weighs 440 oz and is 445 mm long, composed of twenty-three double circular links with penannular ring on one end. Each ring measures 32 mm in diameter, 20 mm in breadth and 10 mm thick. The large penannular ring has incised on it the double curved 'S' symbol and triple dots on one side of the opening and on the other side two acute-angled triangles side by side with triple dots between the points. These symbols show traces of having been filled with red enamel.
