Details Farmstead, still in use, built in the mid 18th century with 19th century additions. It is the home farm to Rattray House (NK05NE0015), and the steading has been built on the axis of the old main gates. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a U-plan steading with attached horsemill and a small L-plan building covering part of the entrance to the court at the north. There is an L-plan range to the east, a narrow irregular U-plan range further to the east with a rectangular-plan building to the north of it. On the 2nd edition OS map the rectangular-plan building has been extended, with the rest of the buildings remaining unaltered in plan. On current OS maps the U-plan steading is mostly unroofed, with only a section of the west range remaining. The L-plan range to the east has been replaced or incorporated within a larger building, the rectangular-plan building has been extended to L-plan and the narrow U-plan range has been removed. The buildings are B-listed, with the steading being single-storey and constructed from cherry-coked rubble with a bellcote on the north gable and skewputts. An adjoining cottage is two-door, four-window, single-storey and of the same mid 18th century date as the steading. To the east is another house built in circa 1820-35. It is a two-storey, three-window harled house with quoin angles, low proportions, a corbelled piend roof and central bipartite windows. There is also a single-storey outbuilding has a gable end chimney. The house is of a similar style to the laundry (NK05NE0077).
