Details Depopulated settlement comprising the remains of longhouses, rectangular enclosures and sub-circular enclosures on the lower slopes of hillside. A township, Bealachodhar, comprising eight unroofed buildings (two of which are long buildings), five enclosures (three of which are sheepfolds) and a head-dyke,is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map which runs south to the settlement of Forester Haugh (NO38NW0006). The current OS map shows eight unroofed buildings and four enclosures. Survey in 2010 (Scotland's Rural Past project) recorded four buildings, which includea well preserved kiln barn and two buildings each with more than one compartment adjacent to a large enclosure. The largest of the buildings may have contained a winnowing barn. The long head dyke which runs from Spittal of Glen Muick runs through the settlement which is shown on estate maps of 1807 and 1809. Walkover survey by Cameron Archaeology in November 2022 ahead of proposed planting in the vicinity of the site, also noted three features within this site: a small, circular grass-covered mound circa 2 m in diameter, possibly a clearance cairn; a low heather covered bank east of the burn, circa 6.5 m long and 1.6 m wide; a clearance cairn circa 4 m in diameter.
