Details Site of a church. Inverarity Church, which was dedicated by Bishop David in 1243, was formerly situated near Fotheringham House, according to traditions recorded by the NSA and the antiquarian Jervise. The church was moved to its present site in 1754. By 1859, the OS name book records that all traces of the church had disappeared, its site and that of the graveyard being planted with trees and shrubs. No traces were visible when visited by the OS in 1967. Human remains were uncovered by badger activity in August 2018, on the southern side of an artificial flat-topped mound. The the area of the find was subsequently investigated by AOC and a scatter of human remains uncovered. A total of 130 human skeletal fragments representing a minimum of six individuals (four adults and two children). Two pieces of bone were radiocarbon dated, the results indicated that the individuals date to the late-medieval to post-medieval period.
