Details Remains of former pumping station and lade. The building was reported to be steel-framed and in poor condition in 2002. The pumping station, part of the former Montrose Water Works, is shown on both the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps and first provided water to Montrose in 1856. The V-plan weir to the north has later been used as a fishing dyke. It is of masonry construction, but has a concrete fish pass and there are some repairs from armour stone or concrete. It was partially breached along the south dyke arm during a flood in November 2013. A reservoir and filter house (NO76SW0133) lay on the west side of the railway line, to the west of the main water works. The lade is related to the former flax mill and distillery at Hillside (NO76SW0037). The fishing dyke crosses into Aberdeenshire Council (see NO76SW0126 in the Aberdeenshire HER). Photographic recording was carried out in June 2019.
