Main Details

Primary ReferenceNO87NW0005
NameMONTGOLDRUM 2
NMRS Card No.NO87NW5
NMRS Numlink36818
Site Form Standing Structure
Site Condition Incomplete
Details Possible recumbent stone circle. The remains comprise a cairn retained by a discontinuous kerb of rough blocks within which is a vague saucer-shaped hollow which, although not concentric, is very suggestive of a ring cairn. To the northeast and east, at a distance of 3..5m from the perimeter, are small earthfast stones which may be the remains of a surrounding stone circle. A large broken block is almost certainly a displaced recumbent stone. In line to the northeast there are 3 cairns, without kerbs, up to 5.5m diameter and 0.4m high. A possible cairn, 4m diameter, 0.25m high lies 5m to the northwest of the circle/cairn. (See NO87NW0004)
