Former jail, probably dating from the early 19th century. Single-storey, 2-bay, rectangular-plan building, to the rear of 7 Main Street (NO34NE0098). Built of random rubble with large squared quoins, voussoirs and vaulted with a round-headed door. The building extends north to former semi-derelict bays, currently a raised bay with a broad, full-height, 2-leaf timber workshop door. The roof is corrugated-iron, with an Ashlar stack projecting to centre of roof pitch. To the east (entrance) elevation there is a door to the south of centre and a window (formerly barred) to the north. Inside the building there is a stone vault with small niches in the wall thickness close to the floor at the southwest and northeast. Southwest of Hatton's Yard Workshop (NO34NE0137).
